Writing takes time

Since I started my writing journey, I've had other friends say they want to write a book but just haven't had the time or not have the confidence. Both gentlemen are brilliant and I'm certain whatever story they decide to convey to the world will be certainly invigorating.
So, for those that are wanting to write a book but not sure where to start: Here is what helped me.
What is priority? Do you really want to write a book? If so, you will have to put some things on the back burner for a while or lessen the time in certain activities.
Confidence: Not sure if anyone will really read my book. ~ Sometimes, you have to put those negative thoughts aside and switch to positive thinking. Your book genre may not be everyone's cup of tea [my mother already told me my genre is not hers] but someone will read it. Share with friends, family, and co-workers your goal. You'll get that confidence.
Start with an outline. Put your thoughts in order and when you have a pretty good idea...start writing. Yes, your outline will change and that is ok.
EDITING: Rest assured, I'm pretty certain my editor hates me. My mind may be a bit creative but getting that correctly portrayed in a word doc is a totally different story. Spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc is important. Definitely do a lot of that before submitting your manuscript.
Don't rush! Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither will your book. Write at least 100 words a day to keep the storyline fresh in your head.
Hope this helps a little bit, but you can always ask away. I'm no pro but I have learned a lot and I hope I can help others in their writing journey.
